The Warrior Guide
Other Class Guides Druid Hunter Mage Paladin Priest Rogue Shaman Warlock Warrior

The Warrior Class is available to these Races.

Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Gnome, Orc, Tauren, Troll, and Undead.

Blizzard's Class Description:

"Warriors are the melee-centered class. These characters are tough as nails and masters of weaponry and tactics. The special abilities of the warrior are naturally combat-oriented." Blizzard

Shadows Edge Class Description:

You gotta love the tank! The warrior is a meat shield, protector, and agro magnet for support class players. If you enjoy being in the middle of the action and going toe-to-toe with your enemy, then the warrior is for you. Since the warrior typically has high hit points and has the ability to taunt monsters, they tend to take agro and hold it while players with less hit points can deal out damage and not take the risk of getting the monsters attention.

The Warrior plays a key role in any group, in fact, seldom can a group function without a warrior class around. There are melee classes similar to the warrior such as the Hunter, but the warrior main job is to take and hold agro.

We won't know until the game releases, but we can assume that the warrior is critical to the success of any group and a major asset to the guild during dungeon crawls and gaining experience.

Class Skills

As mentioned in the character overview, the Warrior's skills are geared towards more powerful melee combat with less emphasis on magic or ranged attack. The Class skills reflect this with specific melee weapons covered, such as swords and axes, as well as important areas such as defense and duel wielding of weapons. These class skills are designed to highlight the warriors combat potential and at the same time keep the character exciting and interesting to play.

Blizzard will be aware that in general, a Warrior Class is sometimes frowned upon by RPG players as the 'easy' character to play so the class skills will be key in making this class exciting to play. His adeptness as an interesting and challenging character in battle must match that of a magic user with ranged attack.
