As of today, our Fan Site and our Guild Site are now two separate web sites.

shadowsedge.org is our Fan Site.

guild.shadowsedge.org is our Guild Site.

There were many reasons to do this and I will try to explain some of them the best I can.

1. It became quite obvious to me when I started to add content that the navigation for both sites was NOT working well together. In fact I had several complaints about things being buried too deep and the navigation not making sense. When I flowed out the navigation again on paper, it was apparent that we needed to separate them.

2. We really have two audiences visiting Shadows Edge. Guild members who want to see it all and WoW Fan who don't care about guild information. In web design, it is a cardinal sin to not understand who your audience is and stay true to your course, therefore, another strong reason to split them.

3. Finally, Sintel and I decided to take the site to the next level. This means presenting the fan site as a professional robust site that caters to ALL fans of WoW. I won't go into the details, but we have some big plans for Shadows Edge and you get a front row seat to watch it grow and become one day a Top Notch Fan Site.

Guild Site has a New Interface:
As of today, the guild site has a new interface and we have worked hard to keep it COOL and EASY TO USE.

Fan Site has a new News Engine:
As of today, the Fan Site has a news submittal form and database engine. So when you want to "contribute to guild members" (hint, hint, wonder where that comes from?) use the news submittal form and help keep the fan site up to date. This is just the first of many automated tools that our site will have to allow our members and fans to interact with Shadows Edge. We have more tools coming, so hold on to your seat.... hehe!

One final thing:
There will no longer be a link from the Fan Site to our Guild Site. There are some requirements that we are trying to meet that require us to make this separation. Therefore, you will need to bookmark both URL's and use them separately. However, we have tried to link all fan site information on the Guild Site to make it easy for you to get there. Just give it a try....

Let me know if you run into any problems or issues. We have tried to cover all our bases, but it is often impossible to catch everything.
